Explore AIXC

Learn through a guided exercise with a concrete checkpoint.

Work through this exercise in order. The checkpoint tells you what to observe before you move to the detailed reference.

1. Use the AIXC repository’s reference codec and test fixtures. You need its Python/C build environment; a predictor must be available to both encoder and decoder. Start with the toy backend rather than provisioning a large model.

2. Select a short fixture with repeated text. Encode and decode it with the same predictor configuration and compare the reconstructed bytes to the source byte for byte.

3. Inspect the seed, hit decisions, and miss residuals in the reference loop. For a miss, confirm that the actual source unit—not the prediction—becomes the next context unit on both sides.

4. Checkpoint: reconstructed bytes equal the input. Deliberately change predictor identity or a determinism setting and confirm compatibility validation rejects the mismatch. Exact command flags depend on the repository version; use its current entry-point help rather than inferred flags.
